Julie's Ascent by Emily Walker
When Julie Monroe ends up in Hell, she has no idea why she was there.
The things she knows are: she's dead, she's transparent, and she been given a second chance.
Kind of.
Given the opportunity to return to Earth as a Succubus, she wants the chance to get out of Hell--but she isn't too keen on sucking souls for the Underworld. To make things even more complicated, she has a huge crush on her mentor, (name here). He's been in the business of the Succubae for hundreds of years, and Julie can't help but feel drawn to him.
Convinced she can escape, Julie believes that she can run away and hide. But, as she discovers different dimensions of Hell on Earth, she starts to realize that maybe there isn't a way to escape her fate.
Excerpt
“We will start with the basics of what you are and the different realms that are on Earth. After I teach you that, it will be time to start taking control of your power. We will practice control drills that will take a lot out of you, but will be necessary for your training. How does that sound?”
“Do I have a choice?” I am serious because if I do have a choice, could I stand to stay in my rock jail and burn forever? That doesn’t sound like a good plan either.
“No.” He smiles again.
“Then it sounds great.” I make sure there is no enthusiasm in my voice. I suddenly become very aware of what I am wearing. Before I had been so freaked out about being in Hell that I didn’t pay attention. It is nothing but a white scrap of cloth that barely covers anything. This is not something I would have chosen to wear. I try to pull it down and successfully uncover more of my chest. I give up and await my training from the Greek god demon.
“I can see everything the devil gave you, little lady,” he says with an evil smile playing on his face.
“Did the devil dress me like this? It’s just indecent.”
Looking at me longer than I think is necessary, he walks out of the room.
“I’ll be back in a minute.”
“Great.” This is my own personal version of Hell, in Hell.
